Steven Sands is Co-Founder, Partner, and Senior Portfolio Manager of Sands Brothers Asset Management. A veteran New York investor with a passion for making a global impact, Steven invests in businesses that improve quality of life and spur job growth, particularly in the science, food, and healthcare industries. Steven is also a devoted family man and philanthropist.

Steven Sands has more than 25 years of investment experience in areas that include investment banking, venture capital, real estate, money management, sales/brokerage and merchant banking. Steven has served as Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Sands Brothers, a successful Asset Management firm since 1998, where he continues to provide direction and guidance in his leadership. He is also a founder and manager of the Select Access funds and Chairman of Critical Capital Growth Fund, which is licensed with the Small Business Administration.

Steven Sands’ financial experience began as a member of the Fixed Income Team with L.F. Rothschild. Thereafter, Steven leveraged his experience into servicing both high net worth and institutional accounts by joining Oppenheimer and Co. He continued to broaden his experience and eventually joined Laidlaw Adams & Peck, where he focused on private equity and corporate finance. Eventually Steven joined his brother Martin in the opening of the New York operations for Rodman & Renshaw, where his experience and role earned him a seat on the firm’s board. In 1990, he joined his brother in founding SB & Co., an investment bank, brokerage firm and NYSE member.

In the past decade, Steven has focused on both the real estate business and corporate deal business. On the corporate side, he worked closely on numerous venture capital and private equity transactions. He continues to act as a portfolio-manager of the venture funds he co-founded.

Throughout his 25 years of experience, Steven Sands has developed a unique approach to business leadership that he believes optimizes the impact of his efforts. This approach is comprised of three key steps: setting a strategy, spending time in the field with customers and employees, and lastly, keeping a company’s culture in a constant state of evolution as an entrepreneur would a startup.

Born and raised in Long Island on the North Shore, Steven attended high school at Half Hollow Hill before attending Hamilton College, where he participated actively in soccer and lacrosse. Originally a Pre-Med student, Steven decided on English Literature as a major and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1980.

Steven Sands has served as a trustee of the Friends School in Locust Valley, NY and is active in other charitable and scholastic institutions in support of children, education, health, science and technology. Steven enjoys sailing and polo in his free time, and currently resides in Locust Valley, NY with his wife and three children.
